Father’s Day is coming up, and you’re probably wondering what to do with your Dad on his special day. This Father’s Day will have to be celebrated a little different from the rest, given the closures due to COVID-19. However, you can still surprise him and make his day as special as ever! Maybe you’ve already gotten him a gift and a cheesy card with a Dad joke on it, or maybe you’ll wait until the last minute to order him something from Amazon (thank God for two-day shipping). Either way, your Dad will appreciate quality time with his children over anything material, and that’s why we compiled some of the best activities you can do with your Dad on Father’s Day 2020.
1. Take Dad to the Golf Course
Most Dads love golf, and fortunately, golf courses are one of the few things that are open right now. Take your Dad golfing if you want to get some fresh air, a bit of exercise, and to bond over one of his favourite sports.
2. Order Take-Out from his Favourite Restaurant
Although most restaurants across North America are closed right now, many of them are still offering take-out services. So, if you’re Dad’s been craving a perfectly cooked steak from that Bistro downtown, or the mouth-watering pasta from the Italian restaurant up the street—you can still order it for him! However, you should make sure to call early in the day to get your order in so you can avoid long wait times.
3. Go on a Hike
Hiking is a great way to get some exercise, unplug from your phones, and experience the great outdoors. A bonus of going on a hike is that you can bring your dog, a.k.a. your Dad’s best friend!
4. Have a Beer Tasting Night
You may not be able to go to a restaurant and get a flight of beer for your Father, but you can create one for yourself at home! Go to your local beer store and buy a variety of different craft beers that your Dad’s never tried before, then pour them into small beer glasses and let your Father try them out. Maybe he’ll find a new favourite beer and thank you for it!
5. Go for a Picnic
Now that parks have reopened, you can fill your picnic basket with sandwiches and fresh fruit, and head somewhere where the grass is green! Bring a nice big blanket for the whole family to sit on, and just enjoy the nice weather together.
6. Have a Long Video Chat & Play Games
If you’re currently living far away from your Father and are unable to travel due to the COVID-19 situation, you might be wondering how to spend time with your Dad and make his day special. Don’t worry, you can still have a great Father’s Day over the internet! Utilize video chat applications like FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom, and give your Dad a call on Father’s Day. To make it even more exciting, play some games while on the call, such as Charades, Pictionary, and Trivia.
Despite all the craziness happening in the world right now, you can still find ways to enjoy yourself this Father’s Day. You can bond with your family and create new memories. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures while you’re enjoying your day with your Dad, you’ll be happy to look back on them in the future, and you can include these photos in a book about your life later on down the line.
